Britain's wind farms, live

Every wind farm that reports to Elexon: 163 of them, 30.2 GW between them (39 offshore, 21.2 GW), on a map and in a table, with what each is generating right now.

Each circle is a wind farm at the position the government's Renewable Energy Planning Database gives it; its area is the farm's registered capacity (the smallest are drawn a little larger, so they show) and its colour how hard it is running this half hour, from the same Elexon figures as the table. Six pairs of farms share one position in the database, so each is drawn side by side: Dogger Bank A and B; East Anglia One and East Anglia Three; Rothes and Rothes II; Black Law, Kype Muir and Douglas West and their extensions. Hover over or tap a farm for its figures. The same map is in the GridMonkey app: Wind farm, then Map. Map outline: Natural Earth.

"Now" is each farm's physical notification for this half hour: the output it has told the grid it is running at. Capacity is its registered generating capacity. The list covers farms with their own balancing mechanism units; hundreds of smaller farms trade through suppliers' combined units and are not listed one by one. "Where" is the county, or "Offshore", from the government's Renewable Energy Planning Database.

Which farms ran hardest this week? The league table → Britain's solar farms, live, on a map → Nuclear, gas, hydro and battery stations, live →

How GridMonkey names the farms

Elexon registers generators as balancing mechanism units, often several per farm (Hornsea 2 has three) and sometimes under a trading company's name rather than the farm's. GridMonkey groups the units into farms by their registered names, so each farm has one page with its live output and, since 17 October 2026, its output every half hour.
