About Thanet
Thanet is an offshore wind farm off the coast of England, with 300 MW of generating capacity across 2 balancing mechanism units: Elexon registers them at 518 MW in all, but Vattenfall gives it 300 MW, and that is the capacity this page uses. It is the 30th largest of the 163 wind farms in GridMonkey's list of Britain's wind farms that report to Elexon, and is operated or mostly owned by Vattenfall. Every half hour it tells the grid how much it will generate (its physical notification). That is the live figure above, and GridMonkey has recorded it every half hour since 17 October 2026 for the chart.
The government's Renewable Energy Planning Database lists Thanet as operational since September 2010, with 100 turbines of 3 MW.
