About Tye Lane

Tye Lane is a battery storage site at Bramford, near Ipswich, in Suffolk. It began operating in April 2025. It shares its grid connection with Tye Lane Solar Farm, about 2 km away, which has a live page of its own.

Its 59 MW of registered generating capacity is spread across one balancing mechanism unit. Every half hour each unit tells the grid how much it will generate (its physical notification): that is the live figure above, and GridMonkey records it every half hour for the chart.

Battery stations charge when power is cheap and plentiful and discharge at the peaks, in seconds. Their output swings between charging and discharging through the day.
