About Hams Hall
Hams Hall is a battery storage site near Curdworth, by Coleshill, in Warwickshire. It is still being built: BW ESS, which owns it with AIP Management, expected its 350 MW first phase to start commercial operation in late 2026, and a second phase to take it to 400 MW.
Its 400 MW of registered generating capacity is spread across 4 balancing mechanism units. Every half hour each unit tells the grid how much it will generate (its physical notification): that is the live figure above, and GridMonkey has recorded it every half hour since it was added to the list in October 2026, for the chart.
Battery stations charge when power is cheap and plentiful and discharge at the peaks, in seconds. Their output swings between charging and discharging through the day.
