About Wormald Green

Wormald Green is a battery storage site at Wormald Green, south of Ripon, in North Yorkshire. It began operating in September 2024.

Elexon registers its one balancing mechanism unit at 40 MW, but Harmony Energy gives it 33 MW, and that is the capacity this page uses. Every half hour each unit tells the grid how much it will generate (its physical notification): that is the live figure above, and GridMonkey has recorded it every half hour since it was added to the list in October 2026, for the chart.

Battery stations charge when power is cheap and plentiful and discharge at the peaks, in seconds. Their output swings between charging and discharging through the day.
