About Tebworth Solar Farm

Tebworth Solar Farm is a 46 MW solar farm near Tebworth, by Leighton Buzzard, in Bedfordshire. It has been sending power to the grid since June 2025, by Elexon's metered figures, though the planning database (July 2026) still lists it as under construction. It shares its site with a battery, which the planning database lists as under construction (Tebworth battery storage, live on its own page).

Its 46 MW of registered generating capacity is spread across one balancing mechanism unit. Every half hour each unit tells the grid how much it will generate (its physical notification): that is the live figure above, and GridMonkey records it every half hour for the chart.

Solar farms generate in daylight only: their output climbs from sunrise to a midday peak and falls to zero at dusk, higher on clear days and in summer. Few solar farms report their output one by one: Tebworth Solar Farm is one of only eight in Great Britain that do, while the government lists 1,386 as operating. Why so few?
