Cleve Hill Solar Park

Cleve Hill Solar Park is a 317 MW solar farm near Graveney, between Faversham and Whitstable, in Kent. The government's planning database gives it 373 MW installed, more than any other solar farm operating in Great Britain. Is it generating right now? Its live output from Elexon, the GB electricity market's data service, and every half hour of the last week.

About Cleve Hill Solar Park

Cleve Hill Solar Park is a 317 MW solar farm near Graveney, between Faversham and Whitstable, in Kent. It has been operational since July 2025, according to the planning database. It shares its site with a 150 MW battery, which Quinbrook, its owner, lists as still under construction, due in 2026 (the planning database lists it as operational since July 2025).

Its 317 MW of registered generating capacity is spread across two balancing mechanism units. Every half hour each unit tells the grid how much it will generate (its physical notification): that is the live figure above, and GridMonkey records it every half hour for the chart. The live percentage uses this registered figure, not the 373 MW installed that the planning database gives.

Solar farms generate in daylight only: their output climbs from sunrise to a midday peak and falls to zero at dusk, higher on clear days and in summer. Few solar farms report their output one by one: Cleve Hill Solar Park is one of only eight in Great Britain that do, while the government lists 1,386 as operating. Why so few?
