About Brigg Energy Park
Brigg Energy Park is a gas engine plant near Brigg in North Lincolnshire. Its gas engines start in minutes to cover peaks: five built in 2018 on the old Glanford Brigg power station site and four more added in 2024–25 (the site's 50 MW battery isn't counted here).
Its 100 MW of registered generating capacity is spread across 2 balancing mechanism units. Every half hour each unit tells the grid how much it will generate (its physical notification): that is the live figure above, and GridMonkey records it every half hour for the chart.
Gas stations follow demand: they ramp up when the wind drops or the evening peak arrives, and back off when there is plenty of wind and sun. Most are combined-cycle (CCGT); a few open-cycle turbines (OCGT) start fast to cover peaks.
